Phenomenal Woman

Self love.

Waking up every morning, making the decision to be happy, to be positive, to be thankful...it can be tiring and it can be hard, but we must push past and prevail. The goodness of life is rich, and the gifts you've been given are plenty and powerful. It's YOU. You possess so much possibility for such amazing things. I hope you know you are capable of anything and everything. Today, be thankful for your body. For your legs and your knees, for your heart and your lungs...treat yourself with kindness, treat yourself. Take care of yourself. Without your body...you would be no where and no one. So be thankful and happy, for what you have is the greatest gift of all, life...and a pretty healthy one at that. So love yourself, every bit. You are who you are, if we were all alike, if we all agreed on everything, the world would be an awfully boring place. So be yourself, be real, be raw...be who you are and do what makes you happy. Stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

I know the constant struggle of loving who you are and everything that comes along with it. The fight is hard and it is long and it can last forever, but you can't let it win. We are different, and we are beautiful and that is what makes us powerful. You are beautiful, exactly as you are. Make today a good day, decide that what you have is enough and you are amazing. Don't let the world rule you, you are in control. Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou is a poem a friend of mine sent me, I hope you enjoy it.

Phenomenal Woman
Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies

I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing of my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
